Conservative Leader Stephen Harper says Canada’s military mission in the Middle East must last for “the long haul” to defeat Jihadist extremists in the region.

As well, as political pressure mounts on the prime minister to bring more Syrian refugees to Canada, he insists this won’t solve the problem.

Harper made the comments in a wide-ranging interview with CBC chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge that was broadcast Monday night.

  1. Harper is right, although I’m pretty sure the Allies could do MUCH more to alleviate the threat of ISIS/ISIL in Syria. We have the technology to locate these terrorist groups and the armament to destroy them. Instead of pussyfooting around we should bring the might of our forces together and do that.
