It has always been my belief that P. Trudeau’s strategy was to elevate French culture and dominance in Canada. Most Canadians would not object to elevating and supporting French culture, however Trudeau’s methodology was to achieve his goal by diminishing English culture, abandoning historic English based institutions, introducing multiculturalism everywhere in Canada except in Quebec. Trudeau also changed immigration policy from 250K immigrants from the UK to 250K immigrants from Asia. The result of these policies led to Quebec’s open discrimination against English, giving Quebec authority over its own immigration, bringing the constitution home without Quebec’s signature. Mulroney ran a campaign policy on National Reconciliation, getting Quebec to sign the constitution (Meech Lake, Charlottetown Accord)! For political purposes the Liberals opposed these accords until they were forced to, although Newfoundland Liberal Premiere Clyde Wells reneged on his own signature and did not get parliamentary endorsement of the Meech Lake Accord. Consequently the above events have resulted in English Canada and Canada generally being colonized with politicians blessings by immigrants from larger countries.
